![]() Thanks for the explanation, I didn't know this was a long-standing issue -never used a Windows PC in my life and every config of displays/Mac that I've owned and worked on has never done this. I've had the same issue with my HP z27q since I've owned it, occurring on every macOS version since High Sierra along with Windows 10. Your 4K monitor is slow to wake, and macOS is overeagerly stuffing all the windows onto your ACD. This has never "just worked." Neither Windows nor macOS handles monitors that are slow to wake gracefully, and they have not done so within my memory. It's just not very Mac-like.Įdit: £15 for Stay? For something that used to "just work"? FFS Apple. Stuff that used to be seamless is just not there any more. On a day to day basis the Mac is really grinding my gears. After being on High Sierra for so long I'm finding the inconsistencies and annoyances in Big Sur absolutely infuriating. Honestly, there is a lot more to dislike about the Mac these days. ![]() Troubleshooting it on top of all the other OS related mess in Big Sur is a real drag. I already use Magnet for snapping and moving windows with kb shortcuts, hope it's compatible with Stay.Īnyone have any ideas what is causing this? Is it hardware incompatibilities/differences, software, or both? I've used multiple displays since forever but have never had this issue until getting an M1 Mac with Big Sur. With 3 monitors, everything rearranges itself as the wake order (or even waking at all) varies. Sucks that it requires a 3rd party app, but without Stay I would probably end up smashing my Mac's external monitors.
